During summer, people’s digestion is at the lowest and this means that the body craves light food. Since the season is hot, you are advised to avoid eating pungent, sour, and salty foods as that can enhance your pitta dosha or heat in the body. 

Foods that are great for summer are ripe and unripe mangoes, apples, pears, watermelons, plums, amla juice, lemon juice, neem juice, green vegetables, and so on. These foods help to keep the body cool from within. 

Herbs like parsley, coriander, and cilantro add amazing summer flavor to any dish with a belly cooling effect. If you are a non-vegetarian, opt for more poultry and white fish versus red meat. Furthermore, feel free to fulfill your sweet tooth cravings with creamy delights, such as frozen Greek yogurt with a dash of cinnamon and cardamom. 

However, remember to limit salty and spicy foods and also be mindful of your alcohol intake as that can increase heat in your digestive system.

The food items that produce heat in the body can be quite dangerous to your health and well-being. You must avoid citrus fruits, sour fruits, carrots, and beetroots that tend to heat the body. Moreover, limit your intake of chili, garlic, sour cream, tomato, and salted cheese to protect your system. Since salads are cooling, eat more of that during lunch. 

Wear Breathable, Light Clothing
